walmart
B B asked:

Due to the bad economy I have discovered Walmart for groceries. They are really cheap for fried jumbo shrimp. I can make 4 servings of 8 jumbo shrimp for $2 each and they are as good as any other shrimp. Also bacon and milk is cheaper than grocery stores. What do you buy there that is a better deal than grocery stores?

      Here’s how WalMart does it-

Let’s say you are a lettuce vendor and you sell your lettuce at $0.50 per head. WalMart says to you, “We will pay you $0.25 per head, but we will buy 75,000 heads of your lettuce and put it in all our stores.” They can still sell it at $0.75 per head and make a profit. Using this logic, WalMart is able to dictate to vendors how to set their prices. If the vendor doesn’t like it, well, too bad - WalMart will use a different vendor.

This is why the smaller Mom & Pop stores are going out of business. I’d rather pay more at the smaller stores than support WalMart and their world domination.

I buy a lot of my household goods at wal-mart but not really fresh food. I have found their fresh food to be inferior to what I find at my HEB (a Texas grocery store) so even though their fresh food is cheaper it doesn’t last as long and in the end it’s a waste.
